Things to Do in Canada 149

Good morning!

Did you know? British Columbia is the third largest production centre for film and television in North America, after Los Angeles and New York City. Toronto is fourth.

Speaking of film and television, we highly recommend watching HBO’s The Last of Us, which was filmed entirely in Alberta. It’s fun to see so many scenes from Calgary, Edmonton, the Canadian Rockies, Lethbridge, and more. Not only was it a major success, but it was also the largest series ever filmed in Canada, bringing in $141 million to the province. Season two will be filmed in BC.

So without further ado, enjoy the 149th edition of the Weekly Goose!

  • It’s hard to believe how far donuts and coffee will get you but Tim Horton’s now has 3,579 restaurants across the country, half of which are in Ontario.

  • Taking a vacation with Air Transat soon? You might want to keep your eyes open for a potential strike. It looks like 2,100 Air Transat flight attendants could go on strike as soon as January 3rd, a move that would cause all its flights to be cancelled until a new labour deal is reached.

  • We love seeing Canadian fashion hit the market with a splash (pun intended), so learn how a bright yellow Newfoundland raincoat ended up in Vogue.

  • While you’ll likely see much fewer Airbnb’s in Canada over the coming years due to the new rules, this is their list of the 10 trendiest destinations in Canada.

  • Remember Home Alone 2 when Kevin witnesses the beautiful Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Centre? Now think the opposite with this small Ontario town that earned the title of having “Canada’s worst Christmas tree.”
