Things to Do in Canada 157

Good morning!

Did you know? According to a poll done years ago, 81% of Canadians plan on celebrating Valentine's Day in some shape or form with their significant others, and 52% will include their children and other family members in on the fun. That’s one popular day!

Speaking of Valentine’s Day, it’s just around the corner. So without further ado, enjoy the 157th edition of the Weekly Goose, which features all sorts of date ideas in places all across Canada, a video about a romantic cabin experience in Alberta, and lots of cool Beaver Bites.

Beaver Bites

  • People don’t often think of beaches when they think of Canada but we did just land two spots on Lonely Planet’s top 100 beaches in the world. Chesterman Beach in B.C. and Stanhope Beach in Prince Edward Island should now be on your bucket list.

  • With all the bad publicity for Boeing lately, maybe it’s a good thing that Bombardier is building a new $670 million private jet assembly plant at Toronto’s Pearson Airport. According to the Canadian company, they will be the world’s most advanced jet-making facility. Unfortunately, we’re not quite at the stage yet where we’re buying private jets.

  • Winnipeg might be Canada's official slushy capital but Lake Ontario is now Canada's unofficial gigantic slushie lake capital.

  • The Boeing 737 Max 9s just won’t go away. United, which happens to be the world’s second-largest airline, will start flying its fleet of 737 Max 9 aircraft once again after completing inspections. For those that don’t know, this was the aircraft that lost its door after takeoff.

  • Did nobody tell Flair Airlines that death and taxes are the only two things guaranteed in life? The low-cost Canadian airline owes $67 million in unpaid taxes to the CRA.

  • For a food item that did not go well when it launched back in the 80s, McDonald’s McRib has certainly picked up cult status in recent times. The McRib is back for a limited time and some people have even set up websites that track where you can find it. We have no idea if it’s accurate though.

  • When it comes to places like Newfoundland, you never know what you might find while walking along the beach. Heck, you might even spot an ancient shipwreck.
