Things to Do in Canada 175

Good morning!

Did you know? Canada has the longest coastline in the world. Stretching over 243,977 kilometres, the Canadian coastline has many unique features, including beaches, bays, and fjords.

Speaking of coastline, Canada is home to some incredible beaches. If you’re looking to explore some of these beaches, the prestigious Blue Flag Canada awards are now out and 16 beaches and 9 marinas made the cut. Blue Flag is an international award given to beaches and marinas that meet high environmental, safety, and cleanliness standards, so these are the Crème de la crème. Some of the winners include the Halifax Waterfront Harbour, Ontario’s Grand Bend Beach, and Cherry Beach.

So since life is a beach, we thought we’d feature some of the best beaches around the country in the 175th edition of the Weekly Goose.

Happy Travels!

While Canada may not provide the warm waters of places like Mexico, many beautiful beaches exist from coast to coast to coast.

Beaver Bites

  • Boeing is expanding its operations in Canada, contributing $240 million to a new aerospace innovation zone in the Montréal area. The investment will support multiple projects, including electric flying prototypes and advanced landing gear.

  • WestJet is delaying its integration of Sunwing, which it bought in 2023, until next year because of pilot shortages. WestJet is now planning to weave the airline into its fleet by 2025.

  • Speaking of WestJet, they’re also the latest airline to lean into “deconstructed” airfares, providing cheaper flights for fewer services. This new pricing would essentially offer bare-bones travel with the option to add seat selection and carry-on baggage. I guess if you can travel with nothing but a small backpack, you might be able to save some dollars.

  • If you’ve got 15.8 million dollars lying around, you might want to check out this private island in Nova Scotia. It comes with a beautiful house, a boat dock, and a helicopter pad.

  • If you’ve always wanted to own your own airline oxygen mask, now’s your chance! Bankrupt budget airline Lynx Air is selling off various “assets”, such as seats, life jackets and oxygen masks to try and make back some of its losses.

  • Are you visiting Ontario this summer? Grab an award-winning cold one at one of these 2024 award-winning breweries.

  • In Canada, Tim Horton’s is basically coffee, Timbits, and Roll-Up-The-Rim, but in other countries, the menu looks quite different.
