Things to Do in Canada 179
Good morning!
Did you know? Despite being known as a massive party, the Calgary Stampede is the world’s largest outdoor rodeo.
Speaking of the Calgary Stampede, it starts this weekend. Those living in Calgary usually love it or hate it, but for many visitors to “Cowtown”, it’s often a bucket list experience.
But there’s so much more to Calgary and the surrounding area than a 10-day wannabe-cowboy party. So without further ado, the 179th edition of the Weekly Goose features lots of other fun things to do in Southern Alberta.

Although the WestJet strike ended quickly, that didn’t stop the airline from cancelling almost 700 flights and affecting more than 100,000 passengers. Considering we just flew back to Calgary from Halifax on WestJet, we’re very happy we avoided that mess.
Speaking of WestJet, they’re also looking to charge $25 to book WestJet economy tickets over the phone. The fee is part of a larger industry trend of increasing add-on charges, but lowering base fares. However, there’s no point in booking any flight with WestJet at the moment.

It’s no secret that Canada ranks very poorly when it comes to transportation. Flights are expensive, trains are expensive and slow, and even buses are finding it hard to operate. Greyhound disappeared completely and in its wake, Megabus took over some of the routes. Now, it too, is filing for bankruptcy in the USA, leaving people wondering when Canada’s portion will be next.
We’ve written a number of restaurant guides on Must Do Canada. After all, food makes up a big portion of our travels. However, these are some signs that you might want to avoid certain food establishments.
Thinking of visiting the Kanaskis next year? You might want to avoid these dates when the leaders of the G7 host their summit. Then again, maybe Canada won’t be a part of the G7 by then anyway.
While we always recommend travelling alone at least once, if you’re keen on travelling with friends, here are some tips on how to travel without getting into fights.

Considering we live in Calgary, we have quite a few videos on the surrounding region. Here are three videos you can start with, including Calgary, Drumheller, and some incredible road trips.
