Things to Do in Canada 192 (Trains)

Good morning!

Did you know? Via Rail operates the longest train route in North America and the second longest in the world. Known as “The Canadian”, it travels between Vancouver and Toronto for a total of 4,466 km (2,775 miles), taking roughly 96 hours to complete.

Speaking of “The Canadian”, we did this trip with our parents and our two baby girls back in May of this year. However, we took it two steps further, going coast to coast by taking the train between Toronto and Montreal and the train between Montreal and Halifax. All three videos are now up, which you’ll find below in the 192nd edition of the Weekly Goose.

If the deal goes through, Rogers will own a controlling stake with almost an 80% share. In addition, the company also has strategic partnerships with three other NHL teams and owns 100% of the Toronto Blue Jays.

  • Canada Goose might be known for its uber-expensive clothing, but now they’re also getting into eyewear, including sunglasses and optical wear. The glasses will not contain any Goose, however.

  • Three years ago, we stayed a night at the Fairmont Château Laurier in Ottawa, enjoying beautiful views and tasty food. That same year, however, someone also decided to steal an OG print of Canadian photographer Yusuf Karsh’s famous portrait of Winston Churchill from the lobby. After more than 1,000 days, the photo is on its way home after police tracked it down in Italy.

  • Hot dogs are a big part of baseball games, especially when they only cost $1. Inflation be damned, 727,819 Loonie Dogs were consumed at Toronto Blue Jays games this season.
