Did you know? Our Canadian flag was made official by Queen Elizabeth II on January 28, 1965, and was then raised for the first time on February 15, 1965, on Parliament Hill. National Flag of Canada Day was officially proclaimed on February 15, 1996.
We’re only three days away from the 60th anniversary of our beautiful red and white flag. In honour of the flag, the 211th edition of the Weekly Goose features an article about the flags of Canada, links to the official website, a famous Canadian commercial from the year 2000, and more!

Vancouver’s popularity is causing a hotel shortage but this Finnish developer has a solution—Repurpose yachts into floating hotels, taking advantage of Vancouver’s seaside location. The first proposal for a 250-room floating hotel is under review, and if approved, would relieve some of the pressure from the hotels, act as a new attraction, and be eco-friendly at the same time.

We’re not big fans of drinking and flying but with booze-related flight incidents increasing in the last few years, it might be time to look into why airport bars are so popular and limit how much travellers can drink.
It seems like Canadians love exploring their own country, especially when it comes to the city of Toronto. Canada’s largest city broke a record last year with a revenue of $8.8 billion from tourism. $5.4 billion of that came from Canadian tourists.
