Things to Do in Canada 217
Good morning!
Did you know? Saskatchewan has more roads than any other province. With 160,000km of official roads, you could round the equator 4 times!
Speaking of roads in Saskatchewan, we’ve got a new article for you this week and it’s all about off-the-beaten-track road trips in Saskatchewan. If you love the thought of exploring small communities, learning about history, admiring vast landscapes, and exploring dinosaur museums, this article will give you some great ideas to add to your Saskatchewan bucket list.
PS: Come & Meet Us This Weekend! As mentioned last week, we’ll be at the Outdoor Adventure & Travel Show this weekend in Calgary. Not only will be set up at booth 1310, but we’ll also be giving a 30-minute talk about bucket list experiences across Canada on Saturday, March 29th at 1:30 pm.

It’s true, eh! Canadians really are cutting their U.S. travel plans. According to a new Stas Can report, the number of return trips by car Canadians made from the U.S. fell 23% last month compared to a year ago. In addition, Flight Centre Canada says leisure travel bookings to the U.S. have dropped 40% from last year. Considering Canada is the #1 visitor to the USA, resulting in about $20 Billion in revenue each year, this is quite the protest.
Speaking of Canadians visiting the USA, the Government of Canada has updated its travel advisories due to both recent “government kidnappings” and the fact that anyone staying in the USA for more than 30 days (ie: snowbirds, etc) will now need to register with the U.S. government.
Travel hacking aficionados (or anyone interested in higher-end flights) will be happy to learn that Etihad’s famous A380 double-decker jet will be making return flights from Abu Dhabi to Toronto in addition to debuting its famous “Residence Suite” for the first time on this route. “The Residence” is the world's only three-room suite in the sky, accommodating up to two guests with a private living room, bedroom, ensuite bathroom, and a shower at 40,000 feet.
From planes flipping over upon landing to a recent American Airlines plane catching on fire on the tarmac of Denver Airport, it suddenly seems that air travel is getting more dangerous. However, some simple research will quickly quell those fears.
Ever wonder why you can’t recline your seat, enjoy your tray table, or have a laptop out during takeoff and landing? This is why.

While this isn’t travel-related, we love the concept of this new urban community project at the University of Manitoba that will house up to 65,000 people. 65,000.
Birdwatchers might want to skip this one. Did you know that a whopping 42 million birds die in Canada every year due to windows? Some companies are trying to tackle that problem.
While we typically try to only recommend Canadian-authored books in this newsletter, we’re very interested in reading Careless People since Meta was trying to stop it from being released. Written by Sarah Wynn-Williams. A high-level Facebook employee from 2011 to 2017, Wynn-Williams’s controversial memoir paints a damning picture of the tech giant and its ethical practices.
