Kootenays
Good morning!
Did you know? The first Monday of August, which is approaching this weekend, is a Civic Holiday and is commonly referred to as the August Long Weekend among many Canadians. However, it is not federally mandated and goes by different names in many provinces, such as British Columbia Day, New Brunswick Day, Saskatchewan Day, Alberta Heritage Day, Natal Day (Nova Scotia), Terry Fox Day in Manitoba and Nunavut, Simcoe Day in Ontario, and Regatta Day in Newfoundland. I’m beginning to see why we just refer to it as “August Long”.
Either way, it’s a great time to hang out with family and friends or to take a road trip. If you’re looking for small mountain towns, hot springs, unique accommodation, stunning hikes, golfing, and so much more, you’ll want to consider a road trip through the Kootenays. It’s one of BC’s beautiful mountain gems.
