Three Quebec Destinations to Add to Your Bucket List

Good morning!

Did you know? While Quebec is famous for maple syrup, it also produces more than 40% of Canada’s apples. If you’re keen to pick some apples or try it at their freshest, September is the heart of apple season, especially around the Montérégie and Île d’Orléans areas.

Speaking of Île d’Orléans, we visited for the first time last fall, including a stop at some pumpkin farms. If you’re looking for a taste of fall combined with adventure, we’d like to introduce you to three Quebec regions: Outaouais, Lanaudière-Mauricie, and Laval.

Whether you’d love to sleep next to wolves, admire the fall colours from a helicopter, relax in one of the best spas in North America, frolic around a pumpkin farm, or experience a slice of rural Quebec, you’ll enjoy the 240th edition of the Weekly Goose.

Happy Travels!

Beaver Bites

  • It should come as no secret that Canada is one of the world’s best destinations for mountain biking, but this unassuming BC city lays claim to be the mountain biking capital.

  • When most of us hear the word “gondola”, we think of sightseeing destinations like Banff, Jasper, and Whistler. But in many places around the world, such as Portland, Oregon and La Paz, Bolivia, gondolas are part of the public transportation system. Now, cities across Canada, including Burnaby, Red Deer, and Oshawa, are looking to do the same. Although the primary purpose would be public transportation, they’d likely also see a boost in tourism.

  • Speaking of public transportation, bus travel was decimated after Greyhound closed up shop a few years ago. However, this German company, which is now operating in three provinces, wants to connect Canada, one bus journey at a time.

  • Did you know that Amelia Earhart started her famous journey to Northern Ireland from Harbour Grace, Newfoundland, becoming the first woman to fly alone across the Atlantic Ocean? Well, her statue, which stands proudly in Harbour Grace, was stolen and cut into pieces. Not sure what low-life would do this, but the statue has been recovered and will be repaired.

  • For a big, international airport, it’s quite alarming that more than 100 flights were cancelled at Vancouver’s YVR over a shortage of Air Traffic Controllers. If you’re looking for a new career, this could be it.

  • Sometimes, it just takes getting hit by lightning to bite the bullet and start a miniature petting zoo. If you ever find yourself in PEI, it’s a great place to take your kids.
