Did you know? Folklorama, the largest and longest-running multicultural festival in the world, takes place in Winnipeg. During this annual event, various cultural communities showcase their heritage through music, dance, and traditional cuisine.
We actually lived in Winnipeg for six months back in 2015, and Folklorama was one of the best experiences we had during our time there. But there’s so much more to this underrated city. From world-class museums and art galleries to polar bears, festivals, gorgeous architecture, and Winnie the Pooh, this is your guide to Winnipeg, Manitoba.

If you’re visiting Winnipeg soon, you’ll be pleased to know that a new restaurant called Colleen is set to open at Manitoba’s number one tourist attraction, The Forks Market. Owned and operated by Tristian Schneider and Hayden Fellner, the restaurant will feature a menu centred on house-made pastas and cheeses.
Speaking of new restaurants, Kate (website coming soon) is also slated to open soon. The restaurant will be led by chef Oleksandr (Sasha) Bohdan, former sous chef at the Michelin-starred Veritas Restaurant in Naples, Italy. Kate will offer an Italian-focused menu with additional European dishes and will open early for breakfast service.
