Weekly Goose 129 (Nova Scotia)

Good morning!

Did you know? Despite being the second-smallest province in Canada, Nova Scotia has 13,300 kilometres of coastline. No wonder why they call it Canada’s Ocean Playground!

Speaking of Nova Scotia, we just finished our latest article about the best tours in the province, so we thought we’d combine it with many of our other articles and dedicate this newsletter to one of our favourite provinces!

So, in the 129th edition of the Weekly Goose, you’ll find guides to the best tours in Nova Scotia, as well as travel guides to Halifax, Cabot Trail, Annapolis Valley, and more!

Happy travels!

Beaver Bites

  • Some people road trip for the scenery and attractions while others road trip for Ketchup chips. At least that’s what inspired this father and son to take a two-day road trip to Niagara Falls. Our favourite chips are Ketchup as well, so we totally get it.

  • Canada’s iconic RCMP might be changing shortly. The Toronto Star cited federal sources claiming the government wants to transform the RCMP from a body that carries out frontline police work to Canada’s version of the FBI, focused solely on things like national security, cybercrime, and organized crime.

  • Air Canada is looking to make air travel greener and we’re not talking about their recent addition of oat milk. Canada’s #1 airline entered an agreement with SAF producer Air Company to use its unique “power-to-liquid" aviation fuel, which is made using green hydrogen and captured C02.

  • In other news, a donair costume in Alberta has sparked an online bidding war, reaching more than $15,000 as of today. However, what’s even more interesting to us is that the delicious donair was invented in Halifax by Greek immigrants in the 70s. However, equally interesting is that it looks like Alberta eats more donairs than anywhere else in the world.

  • Nova Scotia is being hit hard once again with record-breaking rainfall and flooding, which has pushed the province to declare a state of emergency.

  • Do you love going to the movies as much as we do? Well, the good news is that movie sales are basically back to pre-pandemic levels. In fact, according to Cineplex, 60,000 Canadians bought advanced tickets for both Barbie and Oppenheimer, with many watching both on the same day! Something tells me they’ll be making a lot of $ from 🍿.
