Weekly Goose 138 (Maple Leaf)
Good morning!
Did you know? BC’s Great Bear Rainforest is home to the rarest bear on Earth. Also known as the Kermode bear, the Spirit Bear is a subspecies of the North American black bear. Due to its recessive gene, the Spirit Bear has white or cream-coloured fur. It is unknown how many of these Spirit Bears exist but it is estimated to be around 400.
Speaking of the Great Bear Rainforest, we just got back from an adventure cruise with Canada’s Maple Leaf Adventures. Since bears are mainly seen in the fall, we didn’t see any this time around, but we did see lots of humpback and fin Whales, which is exactly what we hoped to see.
So without further ado, enjoy the 138th edition of the Weekly Goose, which features our latest video about a cruise in the Great Bear Rainforest, as well as travel guides, articles, and more.
Happy Travels!

We love learning about people with unique passions, especially when they blend with Canada. For example, this Montréal LEGO artist is recreating the city’s most historic buildings.
We’ve all heard of Airbnb, a platform that allows you to rent other people’s homes. But have you heard of Turo? This company allows you to rent vehicles from other people and just announced that it has joined forces with Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to enhance transportation options for Canadian travellers.
We love the look of old theatres, so we may have to do another road trip to Medicine Hat, where a 112-year-old cinema is reopening. Although it likely won’t screen Hollywood blockbusters, it will be used for community events, performances, and private functions.
With its geology dating back more than 440 million years, this Canadian island was just named a World Heritage Site.
There are more than 57,000 air passenger complaints in backlog at Canada’s transportation agency, some of which are unprocessed claims still lingering from the pandemic. Perhaps this is why two of Canada’s biggest airports are currently ranked at the bottom of a customer satisfaction study.
